Meeting Diverse Classroom Needs Through Practical Applications of Assistive Technology

Beginning teachers often feel overwhelmed at the diverse needs of their classroom, particularly in special education settings. Practical applications of assistive technology, in regard to supporting communication and literacy needs for students with disabilities, will be explored as a means of addressing multiple needs within typical ESE settings. Through these practical application activities, such as literacy kits, pre-service teachers learn not only what types of educational and assistive technology are available, but also how to apply them to curriculum in meaningful ways.
